Nisosiradi Thailam

Nishoshiradi Tailam (also spelled as Nisosiradi Thailam, Nisosheeradi Thailam, Nisha Ushiradi Taila, Nisa Usiradi Oil) is used in the management of diabetic carbuncles, boils, and abscesses. It has antiseptic, antimicrobial and antipruritic actions. Its external application reduces pain, redness, and swelling in the clusters of the boils. Its antimicrobial ingredients help to treat the underlying infection. First, drain pus from the boils and carbuncles. Then, this oil should be applied on the regular basis. It prevents recurrence of the diabetic carbuncles. People suffering from recurrent boils, they can use it as a massage oil. In such cases, it should be applied over the whole body after taking bath.

Kwath Dravya – Ingredients for Making Decoction :
Haldi (Turmeric) – Curcuma Longa 864 grams
Ushira or Khas (Vetiver) – Vetiveria Zizanioides 864 grams
Bala (Country Mallow) – Sida Cordifolia roots 864 grams
Water 20.736 litres

Prepare a decoction using water, Haldi, Ushira and Bala. Simmer the mixture to reduce it to 1/4th decoction content i.e. 5.184 liters. Then filter the decoction.

Kalka Dravya :
Elachi (Green Cardamom) – Elettaria Cardamomum 12 grams
Badi Elaichi (Black Cardamom or Nepal Cardamom) – Amomum Subulatum 12 grams
Tuvaraka – Hydnocarpus Laurifolia 12 grams
Kuth or Kushta (Indian Costus Root) – Saussurea Lappa 12 grams
Priyangu flowers – Callicarpa Macrophylla 12 grams
Jatamansi (Spikenard) – Nardostachys Jatamansi 12 grams
Jaladhyamaka (Iruvale or Iruveli) – Coleus Zeylanicus 12 grams
Sprikka (Malabar Catmint) – Anisomeles Malabarica 12 grams
Choraka – Angelica Archangelica 12 grams
Dalchini (Cinnamon) – Cinnamomum Zeylanicum 12 grams
Tagara – Valeriana Wallichii 12 grams
Sthauneya – Taxus Baccata 12 grams
Javitri (Mace) – Myristica fragrans 12 grams
Hirabol (herabol myrrh) – Commiphora Myrrha 12 grams
Shukti – Ostrea Edulis 12 grams
vyaghranakha – capparis sepiaria 12 grams
Devdaru (Deodar Cedar or Himalayan Cedar) – Cedrus Deodara 12 grams
Agaru (Agarwood) – Aquilaria Agallocha 12 grams
Sarala (Chir Pine) – Pinus Longifolia 12 grams
Kesar (Saffron) – Crocus sativus 12 grams
Keukand (Chanda) – Costus Speciosus 12 grams
Guggulu – Commiphora mukul 12 grams
Sal Tree (Devadhupa) – shorea robusta 12 grams
Salai Guggul (Shallaki) – Boswellia Serrata 12 grams
Punnaga (Sultan Champa) – Calophyllum inophyllum 12 grams
Nagkesar – Mesua Ferrea 12 grams

Take all Kalka Dravya in powdered form and mix them in a small amount of water to make Kalka (herbal paste).

Taila Dravya – Base Oil :
Murchhita Tila Tail (Sesame Oil) –  Oil of Sesamum Indicum or Coconut Oil 1296 grams

Now, mix decoction, Kalka (Herbal paste), Taila Dravya (either Sesame Oil or Coconut Oil) in a stainless steel vessel. Then, simmer the mixture until it remains the quantity of Taila Dravya and water content gets evaporated. Now, allow it to cool. Then filter the Nisosiradi Thailam and discard the residues.
