Preparation Method

For making Swayambhuva Guggul, take an iron mortar and put Shuddha Guggulu in it and add a small quantity of Ghee (Clarified Butter). Pestle it and gradually add the fine powder of other ingredients of Swayambhuva Guggul. When the mixture is ready to make tablets, then make tablets of each 500 mg.

Dosha Karma

Swayambhuva Guggul reduces Kapha Dosha and then pacifies Vata Dosha. It also has digestive action on AMA and helps to reduce AMA formation.

Swayambhuva Guggul is mainly used in all types of skin diseases characterized by itching and weeping skin (watery fluid weeping from affected skin). It is also beneficial in the management of skin infections. It has antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal actions, which helps to reduce the discharge of fluids from the skin, stops the formation of the pus, and eradicates the infection.

Swayambhuva Guggul Dosage

The general dosage of Swayambhuva Guggul is as follows.
Children	250 to 1000 mg
Adults	500 to 2000 mg (optimum dosage is 2000 mg)
Maximum Possible Dosage	6 grams Per Day (in divided doses)
Doses: 2 Doses per day
Best Time to Take: After Food
Adjuvant: Warm water; Honey; Cow’s Urine (in Kapha Diseases); Ghee (Clarified Butter) (in Vata Diseases)

Side Effects of Swayambhuva Guggul

Generally, there are no side effects when Swayambhuva Guggul is used wisely in patients with the dominance of Kapha Dosha. If the patient has Pitta Prakriti or any condition related to the increase of the Pitta in the body, then it can cause following side effects when used in the dosage more than 1 gram:

• Heartburn
• Burning sensation in abdomen
• Acid reflux
• Restlessness
• Headache

However, these side effects of Swayambhuva Guggul are very rare because it also contains some ingredients like Swarna Makshik Bhasma, Neem, Nishoth, Amaltas, Amla, and Nagarmotha, which act to reduce acid reflux, heartburn, and burning or heat sensation.

Contraindications

There are no absolute contraindications for Swayambhuva Guggul.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Swayambhuva Guggul should not be used during pregnancy.
